Hitchhiker robbed in Voortrekker Street

Witbank Police investigates armed robbery.

Avoiding expensive public transportation in favour of cheaper hitch-hiking will not help, because hitchhikers are prey to robbers.

On Thursday, October 27, a man was robbed of his belongings and left stranded after hitching a ride in an unknown vehicle.

It is believed that the victim went to exchange shoes that he had purchased in town, and headed to the hiking spot where a black Polo with three occupants gave him a lift.

On the way near a garage, one of the suspects pointed a firearm at him, demanding the plastic bag and also taking an undisclosed amount of cash.
