Murder spree raises serious concerns

Two murders on the same day.

The rate of murders of men in the Coal City has risen at an alarming rate these days, with three men murdered in one week of the new month ‒ each murder telling its own heart-wrenching story.

In the first reported case, an argument allegedly led to the murder of a man in  Vosman.

It is believed that the incident occurred on Tuesday, October 4, when police responded to a complaint and discovered a man lying in a pool of blood in the house with two ladies.

It is alleged that the man and his girlfriend disagreed, in the presence of the suspect, who is the girlfriend’s sister.

The suspect is accused of stabbing the victim to death, for which she was arrested, and has already appeared in Witbank Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, October 5.

The suspect has been remanded in custody until a bail hearing on October 25.

In another incident, another man is believed to have been murdered in Thushanang on Friday, October 7 when the police received a complaint about mob justice and, upon their arrival, discovered members of the community and a male who was sitting on the ground.

His face and body were bruised, and he was pronounced dead on the spot.

On Friday, October 7, another male in Ben Fleur was discovered dead.

Police arrived at the scene after receiving a complaint, and were met by the house owner who showed them a man lying face-up in a pool of blood with no signs of life.

It is unknown how the man died because when the owner returned home from work, he noticed blood in the house passage and followed it which led to the tenant’s room.
