Mom sets record straight after house fire

During an interview, Van Eeden said that he and his four-year-old son lost everything in the fire.

The skeleton of the house that burned down last weekend is silently telling the story of the tragic event wherein a man lost all his belongings due to a fire.

The tragedy on Saturday, October 7 played off when Mr Jayson van Eeden allegedly made a braai fire in a big, wide steel drum and went to a nearby supermarket to buy things for the braai.

During an interview, Van Eeden said that he and his four-year-old son lost everything in the fire.

“I am more concerned about my four-year-old son, who lost his school bag along with his books in the fire,” he cried.

Ms Robyn Williams, the boy’s mother, came to WITBANK NEWS to set the record straight after people reached out for donations for the father and his son.

“Thank you for everything. eMalahleni is known for having good-hearted residents, and I experienced that this past few days. So many donations streamed in, but in essence, my son does not need anything,” she said.

She said her son is in her sole custody, he has more than enough clothes and toys, and he lives with her.

“Please donate all the clothes that were meant for my son to people that need them. I am in a position to say that all is well with my son and most importantly, he is safe.”

Williams said her son visited Van Eden when the fire started, and she is grateful that he is unharmed.
