Blancheville Bridge almost complete

Despite some delays, the project is still making very good progress daily.

The anticipation of the residents in Blancheville is evident when you see their heads turn to get a glance at the progress as cars pass the construction site on Second Avenue, where the infamous Blancheville bridge is still under construction.

Clr Maureen Scheepers from Ward 20 eMalahleni excitedly reported on the progress made to date.

“The Construction of the long-awaited Blanchville bridge is progressing well, all concrete works are 100% complete and the contractor, Maburjan Trading Enterprise is currently busy with the mass earthworks. This takes time due to the material that is being transported from the borrow-pit that is located far from the construction site.”

Despite some delays, the project is still making very good progress daily.

“With progress observed on site, if all goes according to schedule the mass earthworks will be completed next week and the contractor will start with the layer works thereafter which will take approximately another week due to testing required to be conducted as each layer is completed,” Scheepers explained.

Everything on site is being done according to strict standards and professionalism.

“The same applies to the mass earthworks, as it progresses, testing is done to make sure that the material is properly compacted. The final layer of the road will be stabilised with 2% cement before asphalt can be laid,” said Scheepers.

The original set completion date of October has however been extended to late November.

“I am positive when I say that this road will be used by the community very shortly,” Scheepers concluded.
