Elkana Educational Centre holds art exhibition with a difference

Various art pieces were on the market to be sold at the Alkana Educational Centre. Individuals who wished to purchase the art received complimentary snacks and drinks.

Elkana Educational Centre hosted an art exhibition this past week on school grounds, but with a ‘different’ twist.

The difference ‘brushed’ in with the fact that the art pieces on sale on September 30 were pre-loved.

Willie van de Merwe, Dané de Villiers, Amy Bodemer and Abie Smit.

Doors to the art pieces opened at 18:00, free of cost to those who attended.

Potential buyers received snacks and drinks, and the staff was as vibrant as the colours on the canvases waiting for their new homes.

One of the organisers, Ms Lesley Vermeulen, said the sale embodies the saying, “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.”

Her words were barely set in ink when a buyer bought one of the pieces on sale in the first hour of the exhibition.

Unfortunately, not all the pieces were taken home by their new owners.

Willie and Roelien van de Merwe.

However, on the lighter side of the brush, the unsold art pieces are kept by the centre and are still available.

Anyone interested in making a purchase can make their way to the centre at 1 Aasvoël Street, Reyno Ridge, to brighten their homes.

As said by Edward Hopper: “If you could say it in words, there would be no reason to paint.” So, grab your wallet and ‘paint’ your home with pre-loved works of art at an affordable price.
