This qualifier was by far the best one yet. Well done to all our riders that competed, all of you rode your hearts out and did your best,” said Danell van Rooyen, an instructor at the equestrian centre.

The qualifier took place at Badplaas on Saturday, August 13.

Shannon and Winter Night Saphire took first place in Handy Hunter 70 cm, second place in 80 cm equitation, and third place in 80 cm competition class.

She also competed in the 80 cm A2 competition and only had four penalties in the 70 cm Working Hunter.

Dalton on Scribbles took two first places, one in the 60 cm Competition Horse rider and one in the 60 cm equitation.

He was also awarded second place in the 60 cm A2 Competition horse rider and placed in the Showing Working riding.

Two first places in the 70 cm competition and 80 cm equitation were the reason for Eunice’s broad smile.

She also took second place in the 70 cm A2 competition and third place in the 70 cm Working Hunter.

Zelmarie was the star of the day with four first places.

She took first place in the 80 cm A2 competition, 70 cm Working Hunter, 80 cm equitation with a score of 32, and Handy Hunter 70 cm.

Although she lost her stirrup in the jump-off round, she managed to do the 80 cm competition in a clear round.

Charne on Stormy also had reason to celebrate. She took three first places. She owned the 30 cm jumping ideal time, 30 cm competition jumping and 30 cm equitation.

In the Showing Working riding class, she placed.

Danell made a clear round on Diamonds Qinetti in the A2 Competition 90 cm. She ended second in the competition, 90 cm with a super jump-off.

The Working Hunter class 90 cm was a little more difficult for the pair as the wind picked up, but they managed to complete the course.
