Station commander has a heart-to-heart chat with ‘Thubies’ boys

Don’t waste your life being wasted – says Kriel SAPS station commander.

Kriel SAPS reached out to the younger generation in Thubelihle to understand why they turned to drugs.

This awareness campaign took place on August 21 under the watchful eye of LT Colonel Phinah Seloane, Constable Angel Makubu, Constable Jacki Kabini and Mr Peter Mtsweni, a member of the community.

This awareness campaign had a different twist to it as the food was prepared for all the boys and over lunch this heart-to-heart discussion took place.

Seloane’s motherly approach is just what the boys needed.

They told her that they did not know that she cares about them.

Some boys opened up and told the station commander how they got tangled in the drug web and the numerous times they reached out for help, just to be ignored.

“Please refrain from using drugs. It only destroys life; there is no excuse for drug abuse. The change starts with you,” Seloane told the boys.

After the delightful lunch, the boys asked the station commander to visit them more often and to continue to motivate them to stop using drugs.
