eMalahleni shutdown march out of the starting blocks

What is the national shutdown all about?

The national shutdown has already started in eMalahleni

The action comes after the Congress of South Africa Trade Unions (COSATU) and South African Federations of Trade Unions (SAFTU) called for a  national shutdown, which is expected to take place in 10 major cities and towns across South Africa.

HERE IS THE PLANNED ROUTE

The national shutdown is believed to be intended to address, among other things, the rising cost of living, fuel, and electricity.

The shutdown in the eMalahleni area began early this morning, Wednesday, August 24.

So far, the gathering is peaceful and they expect to make their way to Eskom Park soon to hand over the memorandum of demands.
