Fill up your containers – no water next week Tuesday and Wednesday

The municipality warns that Tuesday and Wednesday will be dry’ days in eMalahleni.

Maintenance on the water system will be interrupted next week as much-needed maintenance has to be done.

“There will be water supply interruptions on August 23, from 08:00 to 20:00 due to planned maintenance by Emalahleni Local Municipality,” said Mr Lebo Mofokeng, local municipal spokesperson.

The pumping of raw water from the Witbank Dam to the water quarry will be affected due to the planned maintenance.

The municipality has also planned additional maintenance works on the bulk water infrastructure, as a result, most of the area’s water supply will be affected.

This will include repairs on the raw water supply lines at Mercedes-Benz McCarthy, replacement of a portion of a 600 mm diameter pipeline from Point B to Point C reservoirs potable water supply line, electrical/Gen set interconnection at Point B to C pump station, the replacement of 400 mm diameter isolation valve at Zaaihoek/Verena split, and repair on the bulk potable supply line 700 mm diameter AC line near Witbank railway station.

“We, therefore, advise the communities and businesses to fill up the on-site water storage facilities during this period and use water sparingly during the water shutdown. Water tankers will only be available at strategic areas such as schools, clinics, and police stations,” Mofokeng said.

Water supply to all areas is expected to normalise in the early hours of August 25.
