Giving more beyond Mandela month

The initiative was greatly appreciated by the police station as the donation will help the organisation beyond Mandela Day.

The month of July brings a lot of hope to organisations that wish to do more. It is a time when others lend a helping hand to make life better and to put smiles on faces.

Ntshovelo Colliery, which is owned by Mbuyelo Coal owned mining operation came together with their contractors which are Trollope Mining Services, Fraser Alexander contractors and Zizwe Open Cast Mining teamed up to bring change to society.

The various stakeholders gathered to celebrate Mandela Day and donate to the Foundation for Victims of Crime (Fovoc). Fovoc is a non-profit organisation that provides services including a shelter for abused women and would normally conduct the counseling of their victims at the police station.

On Monday, July 18, the stakeholders met at the Ogies Police with its contractors, namely Trollope Mining Services, Fraser Alexander contractors, and Zizwe Open Cast Mining to donate a new fully furnished office container, an R20 000 cash cheque, clothes, blankets, groceries and toiletries that will be of great benefit to the recipients.

Recipients overjoyed by the donation made by Trollope Mining Services, Ntshovelo Colliery, Fraser Alexander contractors and Zizwe Open.

“Fovoc was chosen as it helps victims in the fight of the scourge of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and plays a vital role in helping the victims and raising awareness campaigns on GBV,” said Felicia Zikalala, who is the Human Resources (HR) and Community Manager at Ntshovelo Mining Resources.

The handover event was graced by Ogies SAPS, who also received a public announcement system from Ntshovelo to enable them to execute their duties with ease; Fovoc executive and operational teams, Mbuyelo Coal, and Ntshovelo Colliery management teams with their various contractors.

This year, the theme of Nelson Mandela Day for the stakeholders was ‘Do what you can, with what you have, wherever you are’.
