Junior Powerboat Racing Association makes a big splash with the final boat race of the season held on Witbank Dam

Powerboats speeds into its final race for the season.

The Junior Powerboat Racing Association (JPRA) held its final race for the season this past weekend, and the competitors made big waves in their attempts to win.

The race took place on June 25 at Boat and Caravan Club (Steve’s Place) next to Witbank Dam. There were three competitors’ classes: Junior class, where competitors start in the year of turning seven years of age, and the GT15 and F30, according to the engines of the powerboats.

Although the weather was cold and rainy, the competitors went all out with smiles and had families and friends who cheered them on from the dry land. The crowd greatly supported each competitor, and the atmosphere beamed with enthusiasm.

The results for the race are as follows:

*Junior class: 1. Nico Potgieter, 2. EJ Bierman and 3. Levi Sheppard.

*GT15 class: 1. Jordan Allen, 2. Nico Potgieter, 3. Jason Barham, 4. Henricus Smook and 5. EJ Bierman.

*F30 class: 1. Jordan Allen, 2. Tristan Barham, 3. Caroline Duncan, 4. Jolene Dutton and 5. James Sampson.

JPRA secretary and organiser of the event, Zelda Sampson, would also like to thank the sponsors and those who made the event possible.
