Robbers stopped on Walter Sisulu Street before they could see their plan through

Swift reaction by CSC Virtual Guarding stopped a bunch of alleged robbers in their tracks early this morning.

A man in possession of explosives was arrested early this morning.

The man was arrested after a local security company noticed unusual movement when monitoring a residential estate on Walter Sisulu Street with closed-circuit television.

The team at CSC Virtual Guarding noticed 10 men wearing balaclavas passing the estate.

The security company called for backup and followed the suspects into nearby bushes.

When the suspects started shooting at the reaction officers, they returned fire and chased the suspects.

One of the reaction officers arrested a suspect.

A bag full of explosives was found in the man’s possession.

Local police spokesperson Captain Eddie Hall said the 55-year-old man was charged with the illegal possession of explosives.

“Investigations are continuing, and more arrests are expected,” Hall said.
