Pooh leaves an unpleasant smell in retirement village

Residents welcomed by sewerage at a newly built development in Ga-Nala.

A newly built development in Ga-Nala is already causing a huge headache.

Residents are moving into the newly built houses, but there is not a functional sewerage plant on the property.

All the sewerage is seeping into the grounds of the old age village right next to the development.

This development is situated on the main road going into Ga-Nala.

“The smell is unbearable,” one of the residents in the retirement village said.

WITBANK NEWS followed the trail and spoke to the owner of the construction company who worked on that site.

“We did not build the sewerage plant, we inherited it. We only had to connect the new development to the existing plant,” the owner said.

The owner referred WITBANK NEWS to the engineer overseeing the sewerage plant and said he is aware of the problem.

By the time of going to press, all attempts to get hold of the engineer were fruitless.

The municipality also did not react to a media query wherein they were asked if their building inspectors are aware of this devastating problem.
