KwaGuqa mom dies after inhaling carbon monoxide – three children in hospital

Another woman is still in a critical condition in hospital after sustaining burn wounds in a separate incident in Phola.

A woman from Phola, Ogies is still in critical condition in hospital after she sustained serious burn wounds after her house caught alight.

The house in Buffer Zone section in Phola burnt down on Saturday, May 19.

Neighbours believe that the fire might have been ignited by an unattended electrical cable, as there was no power in this section of Phola.

Assistance in helping the woman rebuild her house has started, and an NGO called ‘I Love Phola 13 Angels’ have stepped forward in trying to assist the woman.

In another house fire that occurred in KwaGuqa recently, four children were left orphaned after their mother died. It is believed the mover died in her home overnight due to carbon monoxide poisoning.

Three of the four children were rushed to the hospital for further care. New Life Church is seeking the community’s assistance to help the four children.

“The children are aged 13, 10, four and one years. The children are safe, yet we request for clothes for the three girls and one boy,” said Tammy De Oliveira from New Life Church.

Clothes and blankets can be donated to the New Life Church in order to help the children.
