Local rugby star from Laerskool Klipfontein chosen for Puma u.13 team

Kevin van Vollenstee has been chosen for the u.13 Puma team.

The saying goes ‘practice makes perfect’ and that is exactly what a young rugby player from eMalahleni does.

Kevin van Vollenstee (13) was always seen outside, either running, or playing ball with his other brothers since he could barely walk.

Kevin started his primary school at Laerskool Klipfontein and that is where he has stayed since and just excels in all sports.

The love for rugby started when Kevin’s brother, Trevor van Vollenstee always called him to come and play rugby with him.

When Kevin was supposed to play in the u.8 team, he played in the u.9 instead with his brother, and they played the whole year together.

Kevin does not only excel on the rugby field, but he also loves participating in athletics, and he plays indoor and outdoor cricket.

This year he went to Mussa’s for shot put and was also elected for the IPT team for the u.13s in action cricket.

While on the rugby field, Kevin has been watched by various teams.

At the last trials he was seen for the potential and effort he puts into the game and that is when he was chosen for the u.13 Puma team.

“I am very excited and humbled because I had injured my knee during the last trials but gave it my all, and I was happy when I got the news,” said Kevin.

Kevin plays as a flank and really puts a lot of effort into the game.

“I would like to see myself playing for one of the provincial teams and hopefully for the Springboks one day,” said Kevin.
