Coal City Wizards in a super win

Another three points for Coal City Wizard.

Home team Coal City Wizards played one of the best soccer matches when they beat Richmond United during the Hollywoodbet Super League match.

The match was played at Puma Stadium on Saturday, May 7.

From the onset, they played with purpose, showing that they were playing at home and wanted to win the match at all costs.

Back from an away win beating Tsunami Queens with a 3-1, they made their work easy and beat the visitors 2-0.

With this win, they are now sixth on the log.

City had a corner-kick and Mdabazi Mathebula took the kick while Nelisiwe Mchunu wasted the chance at the other end, United Kannelo Taiwe’s shot was blocked by City keeper Siphiwe Mguni.

City pushed players forward making their intention known for an early goal clear.

City also defended well and their forward Mncunu had a high ball trying to score.

United Ruzaan Robbenson and Malebogo Shawe plus Mathapelo Mokgeti tried their best in the United defence to keep City at bay.

Taiwe of United nearly scored with a low shot.

 

City in one of their build-ups from the back had their captain Makgotso Lepota trying her shot at goal, but the United keeper Gift Kgosamang could not hold the ball and Leseti Mokoena scored from the rebound to make it 1-0.

City Mathebula, Mncunu Celukuhle Mabizela played one of the best matches making sure that they always surge forward. With City leading at 1-0 United Taiwe in trying to find the equaliser shot at goal, but her shot was saved by Mnguni.

United brought in Ntaoleng Dlamini as a substitute, but the score remains 1-0 at halftime.

In the second half, United Taiwe tried dribbling her way through, but her low shot was saved by Mnguni again.

United had a place-kick, but the chance was wasted.

United substituted Tsepiso Radebe for Thandeka Ncambe while City had a double substitute bringing Lungile Mthethwa and Relebogile Mohlokoane for Mncunu and Tshwarelo Mofolo.

United also had a double substitute Anelisa Ndyebi and Sinazo Zinto and Nozipho Nhlapho and Aphelele Mpambani.

While the game swung from one end to the other with City dominating play they increased their lead when Nkhesani Baloyi took a long drive beating United’s keeper hands down trying to hold on to the ball.

United had a place-kick in the danger zone, but their effort went over the crossbar.

While United was coming strong trying to find the back of the net with Lisbeth Nkhumane coming close to scoring, nothing came out of it.

The home team took home the three points and the visitors went back home empty-handed.

A full set of the midweek fixture on Wednesday, May 11 is assured in the Hollywoodbets Super League this week.

Things don’t get any easier for Tsunami Queens as they play host to UJ FC.

The tie of the round sees TUT FC play host to Bloem Celtic.

Both sides produced excellent displays over the weekend, beating UWC and UJ FC respectively.

The two new clubs, Vasco da Gama and City Lads, face tough assignments away to Richmond United and Sundowns Ladies.

High-flying Thunderbirds Ladies go up against a UWC side who haven’t made the best of starts to the campaign, while Golden Ladies welcome First Touch FC and Coal City Wizards head to Limpopo to face off against Ma-Indies Ladies.

In the late kick-off, JVW will host Durban Ladies under the lights at Wits Stadium.
