New Generation Movement giving out food parcels and blankets

Community members of Ward 2 in Hlalanikahle after receiving blankets from the New Generation Movement.

Members of the New Generation Movement are on a mission to help out within the communities.

The group goes out to companies and different stakeholders asking for donations on behalf of community members.

After that they go to the different wards reaching out to needy families, giving them food parcels and other essentials.

In one of their first projects, they presented food parcels and blankets to families in Ward 2. They work hand in hand with other agencies.

The parcels were presented on Saturday, April 30 at the Source of Life Christian Church in Hlalanikahle, Extension 3.

Mr David Mgwenya chairperson of the organisation said that the organisation was formed this year in February and the aim is to develop communities, fight poverty and to seek employment, especially for young people.

They partnered with Eskom for their first project, and they hope to form a solid partnership going forward, even with other companies.

Cllr Thobela Ntshintsha thanked the members of the organisation for their hard work and urged companies to support them as they bring change to the community.

He also thanked the management of Source of Life Christian Church for letting them use their place for the presentation. He hopes other organisations should do likewise.

Mr Kansas Mhlanga, a community member, urged parents to send their children for skills development courses as that will improve their chances of getting employment.

The organisation would like to thank all their funders for contributing to them.
