Patrick speaks life through his book

Patrick is not only a writer also a health and safety officer.

A young writer has started writing about his life and through his book he speaks life.

Patrick Moabui is currently working as a health and safety officer.

He grew up in Limpopo in a village called Bangalong just outside Lephalale.

This is where he and his siblings were raised by a single mother who worked as a domestic worker.

“I have one sister and had a brother, that makes me the lastborn,” said Patrick.

He attended school at Batlhalerwa High School at Shongoane until he matriculated.

“I am a graduate from Unisa, currently studying BA in Creative Writing to improve my writing skills and gain knowledge that will maximize my skills and experience,” continued Patrick.

He has written a book called ‘Cry and Laugh with Lastborn’.

“I believe that no one owes me anything, I am the one who owes myself to work hard on building myself. I enjoy penning down my thoughts as much as I can. I am concurrently writing two books, poetry and a novel which I intend on publishing not later than August,” said Patrick.

The current book is about a melting pot of melancholy, ecstasy, grief, loss, betrayal, tragedy, elation and somewhat hilarious innuendos perfectly timed to lighten the load.

The poems speak of life just as they speak into life, mirroring what we go through in this relentless journey called life.

“While some spoken words lament the status quo, ‘Cry and Laugh with Lastborn’ is a breath of fresh air as it also offers possible solutions with a dash of humour to help the reader gobble down the bitter truth,” continued Patrick. Patrick would like to give other writers some advice, “Ideas come when least expected. If you don’t record it, then chances are it will vanish. When it hits, you record it, even if you have to make an audio, so be it. Believe in yourself and your work.”
