Klarinet Pay Point centre is finally up and running

Pay Point Centre is finally open for Klarinet residents to make

Glencore Coal ensures to give communities in which they operate an extra hand to boost their livelihoods.

The coal company handed over Klarinet Service Centre on Wednesday, March 30.

The centre is aimed at helping the residents that have had trouble paying for their services at the local municipality offices. The project was undertaken as part of Glencore’s social and labour plan commitments as stipulated in the Tweefontein Social Labour Plan.

Glencore consulted with eMalahleni Local Municipality to identify projects that they could assist with according to the socioeconomic needs in the municipal area.

Executive Mayor of eMalahleni, Cllr. Conny Nkalintshana at one of the desks at the Klarinet Pay Point Centre, which was handed over on Wednesday, March 30.

This led to a service centre being identified as a crucial need in ensuring adequate service delivery and ease of access to municipal services for the community of Klarinet.

The Executive Mayor Cllr. Conny Nkalintshana said that the new centre will need to have five employees.

“I encourage the youth of Klarinet and Pineridge to apply once positions are advertised, to take ownership of these offices,” Nkalintshana added.

Glencore is proud to be a supporter of the Executive Mayor’s 90 days in office cleaning campaign called ‘Hlanzeka’ by donating various cleaning equipment towards the drive.

Mr Noel Pillay who is the general manager for Community and Regulatory Affairs for Glencore Coal said that the company has some commitments in terms of the public-private partnership with the local municipality.

“We are glad to deliver this project; it had been on our social level for the past five years. It is one of the many projects that we were focused on in eMalahleni. We have a long-standing relationship with the municipality and we hope to embark on the other projects with them,” added Pillay.
