Witbank Police has opened an attempted murder case after the shooting incident that took place at the newly relocated News Café.

WITBANK NEWS earlier reported that a man was gunned down on February 26.

According to the information gathered by the police, it is alleged that an unknown suspect tried to enter the restaurant with a bottle of alcohol.

The victim that was a ‘bouncer‘ on duty refused the suspected shooter entry – as it is not permitted according to their liquor license.

This was when the shooting took place in the parking area.

The suspect walked away but suddenly turned around and pointed a firearm at the victim and shot several rounds at him. The victim is still recovering in hospital.

“Anyone with information regarding the suspect can contact the investigating officer Lieutenant Colonel Jurie Steyn of Witbank SAPS Detectives on 082 600 8529,” Witbank SAPS spokesperson, Capt Eddie Hall concluded.
