[UPDATE] Water quality in eMalahleni

The Municipality is hard at work continuing to monitor the quality of water 24/7.

This notice has reference to the media statement issued earlier on February 25, an update was given by the local municipality.

“It has been observed that the potable water does not meet the minimum requirements as set out in

the water quality standard regulation (SANS 241:2015) during the conduction of regular water quality monitoring exercise,” the previous media release stated.
The Municipal team is hard at work 24/7 to ensure that portable water is always safe for human consumption by testing water on our purification plant at regular intervals which has observed that the water is not of good quality thus advising on the required precautions.
It be noted that the cause is not on the part of the Municipal mechanical system but due to the shortage of chlorine supply country wide, however the chlorine stock pile has been resolved to enable us to increase chlorine dosage to mitigate the challenge in the water network system.

The community is advised not to panic and update notices will be issued as and when it is necessary to do so.
