Rape is starting to become a plague

The mother of the minor immediately took action and opened a case at SAPS.

The increase of rape cases is a huge concern for Witbank Police as two rape cases were reported just a few days apart.

On February 16, a crime was reported at Witbank Police Station allegedly after going through an ordeal of being touched inappropriately.

It’s alleged that the complainant was told by her child that a local boy is doing ‘silly’ things to her. It’s further alleged that the minor was being touched by the suspect that was a familiar face to the minor.

The mother immediately took action and opened a case at SAPS.

In another incident on February 20, it was alleged that a woman walked to a local taxi rank to get a lift in Vosman.

As she arrived at the pick-up point, a white ‘combi’ allegedly stopped next to her and offered her a lift.

It is believed that when she climbed into the vehicle, the two men that accompanied her took her to an informal settlement and unknown house where they allegedly raped her.

She went to the police station to open a case.

“Anyone who is a victim of a sexual offence should report it to the nearest police station so that action can be taken immediately. If someone knows of anyone that is being sexually abused, they should also report it to the authorities,” said Sgt David Ratau, spokesperson of Witbank Police.
