Newly elected mayor promises service delivery

The ship has a captain again.

Former chief whip of Emalahleni Local Municipality Cllr Conny Nkalitshana was sworn in as the new executive mayor.

Nkalitshana took up the reins earlier today when she was sworn in by chief magistrate Ms Lena Ferreira.

In her first address, Nkalitshana promised to speed up service delivery and tackle the Eskom debt.

Nkalitshana is filling the shoes of Cllr Linah Malatjie, who together with her husband Mr Esau Malatjie, died in a tragic accident on January 3.

The mayor called Malatjie a government stalwart: “Cllr Linah Malatjie was a sister, a mother; a mentor to many of us because she was blessed with exceptional exemplary leadership attributes which will be engraved in our hearts and minds for years to come.”
