Every service delivery project should prioritise community development

The Mpumalanga MEC for Human Settlements, Mr Speedy Mashilo visited the community of Ward 29 at Empumelelweni Sports Grounds.

The reason for his visit on Friday, January 28 was merely to address the development of the community.

“Every service delivery project should prioritise community development,” said MEC Mashilo.

In his address, he urged the locals to not hamper projects roll-out through wardism, nepotism, and greed, amongst others.

Another reason for his visit to this specific area was to engage stakeholders and unbundle persistent challenges bedevilling the implementation of a multi-million rand project to service sites in the area.

“I’m calling for a strong steering committee that prioritises people’s needs to ensure the delivery of the 25 000 sites currently being serviced. The project entails gravelling of roads and installation of sewer and storm water services,” Mashilo concluded.
