Emalahleni Local Municipality will also experience load shedding

According to the power utility, load shedding is necessary due to a shortage of generation capacity following breakdowns of two more generating units during the night.

“Since the weekend Eskom has utilised significant amounts of emergency generating reserves, which have now been depleted and need to be replenished. Eskom will use this period of load shedding to replenish the emergency generation reserves,” they said in a statement.

A unit each at Kusile and Kendal power stations tripped. Delays in returning units at Kusile, Tutuka, Duvha, Lethabo, and Grootvlei have also contributed to the current supply constraints.

Eskom appeals to all South Africans to help limit the impact of load shedding by reducing the usage of electricity and to switch off non-essential items.

Here are the schedules for Emalahleni Local Municipality:

February 2

Doornpoort, Rietspruit and KwaGuqa Substation will be affected from 11:00 until 13:30.

KwaGuqa Substation will be affected from 13:00 until 15:30.

Grobler Substation will be affected from 15:00 until 17:30.

Buffer Substation will be affected from 17:00 until 19:30.

Clewer, Ogies, and Phola substation will be affected from 19:00 until 21:30.

February 3

Buffer Substation will be affected from 01:00 until 03:30.

Clewer, Ogies, and Phola Substation will be affected from 03:00 until 0:h30.

Ga-Nala substation will be affected from 05:00 until 07:30.

Doornpoort, Rietspruit and KwaGuqa Substation will be affected from 11:00 until 13:00.
