Hlangu Phala ready to help shape futures

There were more smiles than tears at the foundation phase classrooms at Hlangu Phala

Malcolm X once said: “Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today,” and that is what Hlangu Phala Primary School strives to do.

Beyond giving basic educational skills, the school would like to instill skills so that the learners become great citizens in the future.

On Wednesday, January 12, learners around the country made their way to schools.

There were more smiles than tears at the foundation phase classrooms at Hlangu Phala.

This impressed a lot of the teachers and the principal as they had the assurance that the learners were prepared to be at school.

Junior Nkabinde is not as excited to start the year at school. Junior is starting his journey in Grade R at Hlangu Phala Primary School.

“As challenging as it may look, the staff at the school was ready to receive the learners. I noticed that some of the learners were nervous, but happy to be here. Some were excited to be back whilst others still wanted to be at home. Seeing the young ones in their uniforms made me very happy; this shows that the parents were ready for their children’s year at school,” said Ms Zodwa Ntuli, the school principal.

The primary school aims to add values to learners’ lives, such as integrity, honesty, respect, diversity and a team working spirit.
