Man woken up by house thieves in Tasbet Park

Cases of house robberies are expected to increase as the festive season approaches.

Losing property as a result of housebreaking can be devastating, especially when one works hard for these valuables.

This is the devastating case of Mr Thabiso Magagula following a housebreaking at his home in Tasbet Park on the morning of Friday, November 19.

Magagula said that he heard a noise in the early morning and decided to check on the cause of the sound.

When he arrived in the lounge area, he noticed that the television was missing and the window was open.

It is alleged that the suspects entered through the aluminium glass window and broke the burglar bars.

The thieves then took the television and fled the scene.

When Magagula checked if he could find the suspects, he realised that they were no longer in the area.

This brings great concern to Sargeant David Ratau, Communications Officer at Witbank Police Station.

More house robbery, breakings and theft cases are expected as the festive season is around the corner.

“People should be vigilant, especially in their residential areas. As we are approaching the festive season, people might plan party at their houses. I would advise people who want to hold small gatherings to invite a limited amount of people, ensure that they stay indoors and lock their gates,” Ratau said. “Another tip that I want to give to residents is to join the CPF groups in their areas and report any illegal activities to the police,” added Ratau.
