‘Jamming’ in prison after being charged with numerous criminal offences

Remote-jamming of vehicles is a concern.

The two suspects that were nabbed by Witbank SAPS after a stolen vehicle, jamming devices, and illegal ammunition were found in their possession had their first appearance in the Witbank Magistrate’s Court.

On Monday, November 15 the two suspects aged between 26 years and 31 years should’ve appeared in court on charges such as theft of a motor vehicle, possession of illegal ammunition, and the possession of stolen goods which includes three jamming devices but the case did not come forward.

The jamming devices that was found in the two suspect’s possession.

According to the police, the reason for this was because of the continuous investigation that supposedly connected these suspects to other crimes.

The suspects remain in custody until the investigation is done by the police.

WITBANK NEWS broke the news on Friday, November 12, and reported on this crime.

Illegal ammunition was also found as the two suspects were arrested.

“Members of Witbank Police were busy doing a visible policing patrol when they spotted a suspicious vehicle in Klarinet Ext 3. The members conducted a routine search on both the occupants and the vehicle. The vehicle was confirmed as stolen and various rounds of illegal ammunition along with three jamming devices were found inside the vehicle,” the previous article stated.

In addition, the police affirmed that this investigation is continuing as it is believed that the suspects can positively be connected to other crimes.

WITBANK NEWS reported in last week’s edition about three suspects that robbed a local business of an undisclosed amount of cash along with a firearm of a security guard.

After a manhunt for these suspects have been launched, a suspect was arrested and charged with armed robbery, hijacking, and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, although the other suspects got away.

“Witbank Police will keep on working day and night to ensure that our residents in our city are safe,” Brigadier Moses Bolton, the Station Commander concluded.
