Shops robbed in two different areas in eMalahleni

Robbers are busy with ‘early Christmas shopping’.

Two businesses were robbed during the week in eMalahleni and the suspects got away with the loot.

The most recent business robbery took place on Thursday, November 4 in Walter Sisulu Street when three unknown men entered the business.

Two suspects were armed with firearms and they demanded that the cashier hand over the money that was in the till.

The cashier was told to lie down on the floor and the suspects then took cash, cigarettes, airtime, and cell phones.

Once the suspects had left, the cashier got up and phoned the police to report the incident.

The cashier could not identify the suspects as they were wearing masks at the time of the robbery.

The second robbery took place on Wednesday, November 3 in a well-known shopping centre at a clothing shop. The incident took place at approximately 13:00.

The staff on duty was busy with their daily duties inside the store. While one of the staff members was unpacking the boxes, five unknown men entered the store armed with firearms.

They went over to the tills where they pushed the cashiers into the changing rooms. The suspects opened up the glass cabinets where the cell phones were kept, and also took cash and clothes from the store before leaving.

All various role players arrived on the scene and the investigation took place. A case of business robbery was opened at Witbank Police Station.
