House robberies become new trend at Tasbet Park

Witbank SAPS concerned about the rising house robbery cases in Tasbet.

Two men were left traumatized after unwelcome visitors made a turn in their neighborhood.

On the night of October 28, four suspects walked into a victim’s room. This was after he heard footsteps in his house; one of the men was armed.

The men then stole the TV, amplifier, computer monitor, cell phone, and shoes. A case of house robbery was opened, yet no arrests have been made thus far.

In another incident that also occurred in Tasbet Park, a man was left assaulted and tied up with electric cables.

Three men came into his house on the night of November 1 and stole a TV, cell phones, and other gadgets, and assaulted the owner.

No suspects have been arrested as they were not identified.

SAPS has noticed that a lot of these robberies happen at night when people are sleeping.

Sgt David Ratau from Witbank Police Station said that a lot of house robbery cases were reported around Tasbet over the past few weeks and this is very concerning.

“We urge people to not try to fight back because some of these suspects are armed and might harm them. We urge the community to engage the CPF units in their neighborhood, have cell phone numbers of their neighbors and have whistles. Whistles will help them as it will alert neighbors that you are in trouble and it can also scare the robbers,” added Sgt Ratau.
