Highveld Urology Clinic shows appreciation towards Life Cosmos Hospital

Dr Nico van Greunen and his team decided to show their appreciation with a “Potjiekos Day”.

As part of breast cancer awareness, Dr Nico van Greunen and his team at the Highveld Urology Clinic decided to show their appreciation for everyone who works in Life Cosmos Hospital with a “Potjiekos Day”.

On Friday, October 22 the “Potjiekos Day” kicked off early with a variety of activities.

The Consultative Forum hosted “Rage against Breast Cancer” throughout the day.

Water balloons were sold to throw against targets on the wall or participants could throw darts at balloons on the wall.

The project was to raise money for the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa).

The Consultative Forum Collected R1 012 and will do a formal handover later in the month.

Participants could win a variety of spot prizes during the activity.

Betty Bandana, a local NPO sold breast cancer related merchandise.

Dr Nico van Greunen also hosted a raffle; tickets were sold for R10.

The prizes included a R6 000 meat voucher and two cash prizes from the raffle ticket money collected.

The total amount of tickets sold amounted to R5 840.

The Lucky Draw was held at the Highveld Urology Clinic with management, unit managers and head of departments.

The first prize, a R6 000 meat voucher was won by Herman Bester, clinical pharmacist, the second prize, a cash prize of R3 500 was won by Anelda Heyns, junior administration clerk and the third prize, a cash prize of R2 340 was won by Patience Nqwenya, EN from the Burns Unit.

Lunch was served in Crave Bits Canteen to all Life Cosmos Hospital employees, doctors and their practice employees, laboratories and our services teams.

A delicious beef ‘potjie’ with a choice of rice or pap, a salad and cold beverage was the highlight of the day.
