Another accident occurred on the R555 (Old Middelburg Road) where a truck lost control and bashed into the wall of the estate that is situated next to the mentioned road.
On Friday, October 22 the accident send panic through the estate as residents realised with a big bang that a truck just crashed through the wall.
“I don’t feel safe as this sort of accident occurred a few years back, just a few metres away from this one,” a bystander said on the scene.
Medical services rushed to the scene as the driver of the truck was trapped in the wreck and could not get out.
Eventually, he was saved as the medical personnel used Jaws of Life to get the trapped driver out. He was stabilised on the scene and was rushed to the hospital.
The accident caused a lot of damage to the estate as well as a resident’s vehicle which were parked next to the wall, on the pavement.
“I personally think robots must be installed there at Puma garage or speed humps. People don’t stop at all there and all of us still going to have or see more accidents from people disobeying the stop sign,” a resident of Clear Water Estate added.
According to him the accident occurred because of the truck that lost control after passing Puma garage stop sign and drove straight to the wall at Clearwater Estate.
“There was a vehicle parked on the other side of the wall which was badly damaged. No one from the estate sustained injuries, but the driver of the truck and his crew sustained injuries.
Further on he stated that the crew in the truck was trapped inside for hours before medical personnel got him out.
“People should be vigilant when they use this dangerous road. We all know by this time that is the road of terror,” the resident concluded.
