Shabane murder – three found guilty

The trio responsible for the Shabane murders was convicted in the Middelburg High Court.

The Mpumalanga Division High Court sitting in the Middelburg Magistrate Court had convicted three suspects, Thokozani Msibi, Knowledge Wezi Mhlanga, and Brilliant Mthobisi Mkhize of eight counts each including break-in, pointing with an object to make one believe that it is a firearm, depriving victims a right to freedom, murder, violation on a corpse and other similar counts.

This conviction stems from a shocking incident that happened on the evening of January 28, 2018, when four suspects broke in at Shabane house at Hlalanikahle extension 2, pointed Nompumelelo Shabane and Annah Shabane with an object they believed it was a firearm they then kidnapped the 13-year-old Gabisile Shabane who was living with an albinism condition and 15 months old baby Nkosikhona Ngwenya.

Shabane case postponed to Friday

According to the evidence presented before the court, Nkosikhona Ngwenya was thrown from a bridge around Kusile Power Station while Gabisile Shabane was taken to a farm at Delmas the following evening of the said incident.

Gabisile’s body was later found in a shallow grave at Cullinan near Pretoria. The accused were arrested in February 2018 and they were denied bail by the eMalahleni Magistrate’s Court.
