Witbank Police searching for suspects who murdered a 66-year-old woman and attempted to kill her husband

The elderly man was taken to hospital where he was treated for several injuries

The Witbank police are searching for an unknown number of suspects who killed a 66-year- old woman and attempted to kill her elderly husband at their home in Siyanqoba, eMalahleni last night.

According to information community members of Siyanqoba gathered at the elderly couple’s house on Monday night, October 25 at 23:00 and accused them of kidnapping a 13-year-old child from the community.

The community members severely assaulted the couple and the elderly woman succumbed to her injuries on the scene.

The elderly man was taken to hospital where he was treated for several injuries.

The Station Commander of Witbank SAPS Brigadier Moses Bolten warned the public not to take the law into their own hands but to rather work with the police and allowing the police to arrest and investigate all crimes beings committed within their communities.

Brigadier Bolten requested the public to contact the investigating officer Lieutenant Colonel Chris Ngwenya on 071 352 7585 if they have any information regarding this senseless murder and attack on the elderly of our society.
