Community health workers from the different health facilities of eMalahleni raised their complaints

Community health workers from the different health facilities of eMalahleni took to the streets protesting and raised different issues.

The workers said they started with the protest on Monday, October 11 and they did not get any satisfying feedback from the department of health.

They are complaining or demanding the implementation of resolution 1 of 2018, they also demanding Covid-19 risk allowances and that other frontline workers did receive their allowances and yet they did not get anything.

They are also demanding permanent jobs, as some claim that they started working in 2017, they also demand cell phones and BP machines.

“We sometimes told to do nurses jobs and we took a lot of risks working last year under very difficult conditions and we were not paid for that and did capturing, taking vitals, taking outpatients files, giving patients medicine and we were not paid for that. We also need transport to take us to the different health facilities, we walk a lot doing our jobs we are not appreciated and we do not get anything for our effort, enough is enough,” said the health workers.

A questionnaire was sent to the Mpumalanga Department of Health for a response but no correspondence was received before going to print.
