Measure the abundance of love present in your heart and make a child smile

Make a child smile on Christmas Day

Christmas is literally around the corner and the Christmas decorations will most probably be up soon in shopping malls.

Christmas is a time for celebration, good food and gifts.

But there is also some sadness when it comes to Christmas because there are children who will not be opening brightly coloured gift boxes this year.

Ladies Circle Witbank in formation decided to participate in a project to put a smile back on a child’s face.

This year the coordinator of the Santa Shoebox project drop of point in eMalahleni is Ms Amy Gallagher from Ladies Circle Witbank in formation.

“Each year the Santa Shoebox Project collects and distributes personalised gifts of essential items and treats for underprivileged children throughout South Africa and Namibia. In the last 15 years, they have reached 1 017 741 children,” Amy told WITBANK NEWS.

The shoeboxes are distributed to more than 1 000 recipient facilities each year, through more than 60 satellites.

The drop off will take place on October 29 and 30 at Cambridge Academy.

“Please remember all items must be new and age-appropriate,” Amy said.

All of the following items are required in the box:

  • Toothpaste
  • Toothbrush
  • Bar of soap
  • Wash cloth
  • Outfit of clothing
  • Educational supplies
  • Sweets
  • Toy
