Resident fix dug up pavement – municipal’s water pipe still leaks

Sub standard work is a norm in local municipality.

After an article in the previous edition of the WITBANK NEWS about a resident’s driveway is damaged by municipal workers due to a pipe leak, still no answers were given by the local municipality.

During this time the resident, Ms Lia de la Hunt that resides in Culembourg Street, Die Heuwel fixed her paving at her driveway, but still the water was pouring out of the ground, where the municipal workers supposedly ‘fixed’ the pipe.

The previous article stated that “According to her sources, the municipal workers came with a back actor and dug a ditch in the road and a large part of her driveway’s paving. But instead of lifting her paving blocks and packing them aside for repairs, the municipal workers replaced the soil and backfilling along with the paving blocks. It was further told that it is her responsibility to restore the sidewalk to its original state.”

Now a week has past, but still no feedback or service delivery was attended to.

WITBANK NEWS reportedly tried to get in contact with the municipal spokesperson, Mr Lebo Mofokeng, but unfortunately the media query was ignored.

“The big question remains, will they come and dug up my driveway again if they one day attend to the leaking pipe?” the furious resident concluded.
