The end of the WAA newsletter!

The initial intent of the WAA newsletter was to promote Witbank Aeronautical Association and encourage aviation within the greater eMalahleni community.

The newsletter has been a communication platform for WAA committee and club members to place club events, success stories, promote social events to create unity at the airfield, stories about the “wings parties”, continuous pilot development initiatives, items wanted or for sale and personal flying experiences with the greater aviation community.

It has been an incredible journey.

Don’t Let Turbulence Ruin Your Landing

Maybe it is from the mountains nearby, a front moving through, mechanical turbulence from obstacles near the airport, or just thermal convection.

Turbulence can make an otherwise easy approach-to-landing exhausting.

While the bumps might rock your flight, most turbulence is not severe enough to prevent you from making a safe, smooth landing.

Here is what you need to know to fly the best approach with the smoothest touchdown possible…

Avoid Over-Controlling

When you take-off or land, you should fly the aircraft with minimal control inputs.

In a perfect world, you would take off, trim the controls, let go, and never touch them again.

At least until you need to turn, or climb/descend at a different speed.
