Young female entrepreneurs breaking boundaries

The event was hosted by Ms Nompumelelo Nene who has been a business owner for over 10 years.

Local businesses are sometimes not given enough recognition and as a result, they don’t have many opportunities.

On August 19, boundaries were broken at Kriel as a business connect session event was held for young business owners of the community.

The event was titled: ‘Girl let’s go for Breakfast’, where women in business turned out in numbers to showcase their business and connect to like-minded boss-ladies.

Young ladies were given a platform to introduce their business and do a demonstration of their products and services.

The main aim of the Business Connect Sessions is to help connect businesses, so they can learn from one another which will help them transform.

The event was hosted by Ms Nompumelelo Nene who has been a business owner for over 10 years.

“I am passionate about assisting potential entrepreneurs, it was high time I stepped up and brought what we lacked as the business community of Kriel; a platform to connect, which will give entrepreneurs opportunities to meet potential clients to engage with stakeholders, meet potential business partners, mentors and form joint ventures,” said Nene.

A sponsored competition was held on the day and Lungile Mtsweni (business owner) won herself a salon rent-free for six months, a company registration package and three mentorship sessions.

“Our goal is to help empower more entrepreneurs in our community. We hope that we can get sponsors or partners which will help grow the sessions and expand them to the surrounding town,” Nene added.
