Busi is a sporting all-rounder

Busi Mnisi believes that her fitness journey has been the most amazing experience in her life

She loves sport with all her heart and is always seen on sports fields in eMalahleni and other parts of the country.

Busi Mnisi was born and bred in the City of Coal.

Her school journey started at Vuma Primary School, Bongiduvha and she completed her school at Allendale Secondary School.

She then took a gap year and later joined loveLife as a body-wise groundbreaker taking care of healthy body issues.

When her contract ended at loveLife Busi joined and volunteered at Izodela Development Community Centre as a secretary and was stationed at Lynnville Clinic where she met Bongane Hlophe in 2006.

The following year she was back at school at Boston College doing a call centre course and completed her diploma.

Her love for sport started in school as she was involved in different sports.

She also joined the Emalahleni Sports Council after being persuaded by Hlophe and later the different aspects of sports.

“I later joined the department of Sports, Arts and Culture as a cluster coordinator in eMalahleni and later as a Siyadlala coordinator for different sports like volleyball, rugby and basketball. Sports in general in eMalahleni is spiralling downwards. It pains one to see sports facilities being vandalised and neglected. We need to put all our hands on deck to correct the state of affairs. Our municipality has a role to play, community members have their part, business people especially the mines have also a role to play. We need to support our children involved in sports. We need to protect our recreational facilities and look for funding to support all the different sports. We need to set programmes like in the older days and that can only be done if we pull in the same direction and stop the blaming game,” Busi pointed out.

Busi says eMalahleni was a hive of activities producing sports personalities like Paul ‘Sika’ Tshehla, Lawrence Ngubeni, Tsepho Mashigo, Anthony Tsehla in boxing, late Steve Maseko, Steve ‘Disco’ Makua, Thomas ‘Junior’ Ngobe, Cyprian ‘Mahala’ Maimane, Tsepho Masilela, Innocent Mdledle Dumi ‘Siphithiphiti’ Ngobe, Frank Makua, Buddy Mnguni in soccer and other personalities in other sports.

We now have our own ambassador Percy Tau a product of the city, Innocent Maela and Given Thibedi just to name a few sports stars from the Coal City.
