Have you seen NSRI’s pink rescue buoys?

On each pink rescue buoy sign are emergency numbers for Sea Rescue.

Some of the NSRI pink rescue buoys that have been deployed by NSRI Station 35 Witbank Dam have been stolen.

The Pink Buoys were at Rondebosch Dam, Bezrus Resort and Witbank Dam Resort.

We are appealing to members so of the public to please support this community project that is designed to save lives.

If you know where the pink buoy is please let us know, or return it to its pole.

No questions asked.

Over 1 000 pink rescue buoys have been installed around South Africa since November 2017 and 77 lives have been saved using one, with no harm to any rescuer, and all attempted rescues that we know of were successful.

The rescue buoys are bright pink so that they can be easily spotted on the water by responding rescuers.

They are unique to NSRI so if you see a pink rescue buoy that is not on its pole it has probably been stolen.

Please encourage the person who has it to return it to the pole that they removed it from or let us know where we can find it on our emergency number 082 994 7555.
