The suspect that shot the sheriff

The elderly suspect handed himself over to Vosman Police.

A 64-year-old man has been arrested for attempted murder and appeared in court. The arrest comes after a sheriff of the court who was supposed to execute an eviction order against the suspect on August 16, was shot and injured. This incident took place at Mthimunye Street, Ackerville after the suspect allegedly refused to open the gate for the sheriff of the court. He then left and called for backup; his colleague arrived moments later. Although the suspect still refused them to enter his premises, they both entered the house to execute the order. They immediately went out of the house and as they passed the main gate, the suspect allegedly took out a firearm and shot the complainant in the left arm and fled the scene. Police and medical personnel were summoned to the scene whereby the victim was taken to hospital for medical treatment. The suspect handed himself over to Vosman Police Station accompanied by a family member hence the appearance for court on August 17. The firearm which was used by the suspect has also been recovered and confiscated by police as evidence. READ MORE
