Khanya walks the extra mile putting shoes on learners’ feet

Khanya would like to thank all the people who have donated shoes and making the project a success.

Khanya Community Development Centre is embarking on a Siyaqhoka Winter Schools Shoes Project and the project aims to provide vulnerable children with school shoes.

This comes after teachers during school site visits indicated that some children were coming to school with torn shoes creating low self-esteem among peers.

Members of Khanya took it upon themselves to intervene in collecting data in each school. Appeals were made to the public to donate school shoes for schools around eMalahleni.

Members were generous in that they donated school shoes to mitigate the poverty-stricken situation among the children.

So far Khanya members have collected 67 pairs of shoes.

They are targeting 11 schools with 819 pupils as their target.

Khanya members then embarked on visiting the different targeted schools around eMalahleni donating school shoes.

They have so far visited four schools, Siphedulwe Primary School and have donated 17 pairs, Edward Matjeka Primary School (19), Moruti Makuse Primary School (18) and Empucukweni Secondary School (10).

Khanya would like to thank all the people who have donated shoes and making the project a success and putting smiles on the children’s faces.

“On behalf of the board of trustees, management and the staff members of we wish to send our sincere gratitude to all our partners for making a difference in the education and assisting our children. Letting our children going to school barefoot was one of the shocking experiences that should not happen in the 21st century. We need to intervene for bettering the future of our children. Train up a child in the way he should go; and when old he will not depart from it. Next year (2022) will be begin in February till July to collect 2000 school shoes and distribute to the different schools, “said Percy Maseko executive director of Khanya.
