Sewerage problem, pushing residents to the max

Every three to four months the same problem occurs at his house in Beyers Street.

One resident in eMalahleni is sick and tired of having sewerage running through his house and garden.

Every three to four months the same problem occurs at his house in Beyers Street.

Mr Fred van Rensburg had sewerage push up into this shower and it leaves a terrible smell and leaves him with such a mess to clean up.

Van Rensburg said; “this is a problem that keeps recurring every three to four months.”

When the main line gets blocked up it pushes the sewerage back up into Van Rensburg’s and his neighbour’s garden.

“Once before the sewerage has run through my house,” said Van Rensburg.

Employees from Emalahleni City Council have come out to look at the problem, according to Van Rensburg they pushed two rods down the main line and said it was blocked and left.

“I recently put in wooden floors and I can’t afford that sewerage floods my house again as the wooden floors can’t get wet,” said Van Rensburg.

Even the garden gets covered in sewerage; the flower beds have also been flooded with sewerage.

The municipality has not responded to this query from WITBANK NEWS.
