Attempted murder cases opened at Vosman Police Station

Vosman Police are investigating two cases of attempted murder that took place in the Vosman policing area

Vosman Police are investigating two cases of attempted murder that took place in the Vosman policing area.

The first one occurred on Friday, August 6, around 22:00. It is alleged that two men were driving on Matthew Phosa Street in Vosman circle, argued after a vehicle belonging to one of the men was scratched. It is believed that these two men didn’t see eye to eye and they couldn’t tolerate each other and their argument led to a physical fight.

It is alleged that one man who is now a suspect, went to his vehicle, and took out his firearm, and shot the other man on the lower part of his body.

The police were called to the scene and the victim was rushed to hospital, while the suspect went to the police station to open the case of assault for serious grievous bodily harm (GBH) as he was allegedly assaulted before the shooting.

Police then arrested him for attempted murder and he appeared before Witbank Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, August 10.

The following incident has occurred on Saturday, August 7 in Ackerville.

The complainant alleged that he was sitting with his brother watching TV when they heard a knock on the door.

The person who was knocking asked a price to hire a trailer.

“They responded without opening the door giving the price to the unnamed person. Suddenly they heard a gunshot at the door, and two armed suspects entered the house demanding money. The victims told the suspects that they had no money; however, it is believed that the suspects fired more shots at the victims injuring them,” said Vosman police spokesperson Capt Elizabeth Mkaudi.

The suspects allegedly searched the house, and according to Capt Mkaudi they managed to take an undisclosed amount of cash, including personal belongings, and fled the scene.

According to the information given by the police, no one has been arrested, and police request anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact Detective Colonel One Thobejane at 082 372 2195 or Capt Mkaudi 079 891 4842.
