Ianthè hands out coffee treats to hard-working officials
The Laerskool Kragbron learner handed out coffee packs at the licensing department on August 4 as a way to show her gratitude
Ianthè Pretorius took the time to appreciate and give goodies to the traffic control officials who work tirelessly on the roads.
The Laerskool Kragbron learner handed out coffee packs at the licensing department on August 4 as a way to show her gratitude.
The 13-year-old was accompanied by her mother and her teacher, Ms Melanie van der Hyde, who is also a part of the Mpumalanga Landservice committee.
Ianthè has been involved in many enriching projects in the community.
These projects count toward a possible Springbok award in Landservice for 2021.
In her speech, Ianthè said that she wants to express her gratitude for their service during the upgrade of the ‘Geduld-brug’ and for keeping her mom safe in her daily travels over the OR Tambo Bridge.
Ianthè became very emotional when she mentioned that she learnt of an official that was injured while working.
She realised that their job is dangerous and she wanted to honour them for their service.
“It’s not every day that traffic control officials are appreciated, so we are very grateful to Ianthè for her great work,” said the assisting manager of the traffic control department, Mr Sam Sibiya.
Sibiya also appreciated her teacher for raising a thoughtful generation and for teaching them to be thoughtful people.
