Sewerage spill leaves homeowner bitter

Grass has been growing in the trench and on the heap of soil that has been piled up next to the trench

A resident living in the Blancheville area does not know what to do anymore with the ongoing sewerage problem in his garden.

The sewerage problem is just one of the many problems he currently has on and around his property.

The resident living in Raadsaal Street is overwhelmed with the problems.

The sewerage problem started years ago and each time the municipality comes out to fix the problem which only last a few days and then the garden is covered with sewerage once again.

A couple of years ago the municipality came to repair the sewerage problem and a huge hole was dug outside the garden.

The hole was, however, never filled up and the ground was not flattened.

Grass has been growing in the trench and on the heap of soil that has been piled up next to the trench.

The trench that was dug up behind the garden to try fix the problem.

When recently the municipality came out to fix the sewerage problem, the house owner thinks they hit an electrical cable.

The sewerage pours down the drive way towards the gate motor.

According to the homeowner every day the electricity in the house trips and he has to go to the electrical box to switch it back on.

“This is an ongoing problem and I don’t know when it will stop. We can hardly have people around as our garden is covered in sewerage. We can’t spend time outside with the dog as the grass is covered in raw sewerage,” said the resident.

Mr Lebo Mofokeng, spokesperson from Emalahleni City Council was contacted about the situation and he said he would report it to the team.
