‘Music can heal broken hearts,’ says Mfundo Mathibela

Local musician Mfundo Mathibela melts the hearts of the kids from Madressa Orphanage Home with songs.

Mfundo, a local musician from Pine Ridge, has decided to spend his Mandela Month with the kids from Madressa Orphanage Home in Pine Ridge.

Mfundo says the kids are very close to his heart, and he wants to teach them to sing and play the guitar because he believes that some will one day be musicians or producers.

He added to say that the kids are not orphans but his young siblings, and that’s why he is striving by all means to teach them something that is going to sustain them for the rest of their lives.

“My dream is to see these young heroes facing the world without any fear, that’s why I’m willing to teach them to sing because I know how it feels to be neglected or not wanted. I want to pass my skill to them because I know it will benefit them one day,” says Mfundo.

The former Idols participant added that the children remind him of his own childhood and his ghetto life, which is why he is willing to guide them to the right path of life.

Mfundo told WITBANK NEWS  that he wrote a song called ‘Ghetto’ and he dedicated it to the kids because they remind him of his ghetto life and the courage that they have keeps him motivated and strong.

While engaging with the kids, Mfundo says he wants to be an inspiration to them.

He told them: “Sorrow and poverty should not derange you guys, you are still young, and you have a great future ahead of you. Always be strong and fearless because only fearless people can survive the fatal ground of the real word. You have to be strong and bold, I love you.”
