Put trash in its place – dispose of your old face mask correctly

The disposal of face masks has a huge impact on the environment.

Wearing a mask is essential for stopping the spread of Covid-19 during the pandemic and has become an everyday accessory, even when you’re out doing sports activities.

However, the incorrect disposal of face masks has a huge impact on the environment if they are not disposed of carefully.

Because of the materials, the masks are made of, it will take approximately 400 to 450 years for the masks to break down if left on the ground.

So according to the World Health Organisation (WHO) they recommend discarding masks in a rubbish bin immediately after use.

The best way to dispose of a face mask after use is to place it into a small plastic bag and dispose of it in a rubbish bin.

This will allow for the minimal spread of the Covid-19 virus.
