Local business owner from Phola, Precious Sibeko feels blessed and confident after the events that took place in Phola recently.

Vehicles of various companies were burnt at the entrance at Phola as protesters joined the national ‘Free Zuma’ protest.

Sibeko was among the lucky business owners that were not directly affected by the protest as her business opened.

The young businesswoman opened her business three years ago and even though there have been challenges, she was able to come out stronger than ever.

Precious says that this ‘Free Zuma’ protest is an awareness to the government, and government should take it seriously.

“Unemployed people have a lot of time to do such things, which affects the economy. Government should find ways to employ people so that such protests don’t happen,” added Sibeko.

Other businesses in Phola remain open yet they are cautious and are on the alert.

Unfortunately, on Monday night, July 12, the Usave in Phola was looted and little was recovered.
